Abstract :
The authors describe a one-sampling-ahead deadbeat-controlled field oriented induction motor drive with a reduced-order rotor flux observer. Using an accurate discrete state model of induction motors, a fast response deadbeat control of stator currents is realized to meet the stringent requirements of the field-oriented control. A reduced-order rotor flux observer based on a robust pole positioning strategy is developed to ensure its robustness against the rotor resistance variations. The rotor flux and the motor speed are controlled by one-sampling-ahead deadbeat controllers in place of conventional PI (proportional plus integral) controllers. A completely digital direct field-oriented induction motor drive is simulated to confirm the performance of the system. A algorithm of an all-digital field-oriented deadbeat controlled induction motor drive for real-time implementation is elaborated. The simulation results show the excellent performance of the proposed system
