Abstract
A PET reconstruction algorithm which makes use of the entire set of lines of response (LORs) in list-mode form is presented. The LORs are parameterised by a Cartesian mesh over the field-of-view of the scanner and the distribution of the LORs over this mesh is determined. Artefacts associated with the discrete nature of the data are removed using a redistribution of the LORs. Experimental work using static and dynamic hard phantoms as well soft tissue was conducted with the Siemens ECAT HR++ “EXACT3D” tomograph; results are compared to the standard Radon reconstruction algorithm using direct and cross planes.
