This study aimed to identify dominate influencing factors of HABs from multifactor coupling of environmental parameters in the West Lake Chaohu. By the factor analysis method on the monitoring data, the correlation matrix of selected parameters was calculated, and a model with six components was established to simulate environmental factors affect HABs in meteorology, hydrology and water quality, and explained the results in reason. The results indicated that obviously dominant factors of HABs were atmospheric temperature, atmospheric pressure and water level. The components implied meteorology and hydrology, contributed greater variance, appeared relatively strong effect to algal blooms in the factor analysis model.
