Abstract :
This paper discusses the following problems: how to show to the authorities that DSP is a subject important enough to have a place in the EE curricula in a developing country; how to make a student interested in DSP and at the same time understand the theoretical aspects involved. Practice vs. theory is the main tool. A description of substantial aspects of teaching in a developing country is made, characterizing its environment and limitations. The contents of the courses are developed and justified, as well as a vision of the future of SP education in these latitudes
