Abstract :
The radiation that emanates from Broadband Power Line Communication (PLC) systems cannot be fully prevented. For this reason, the deployment of these systems is subject to electromagnetic magnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations. This paper presents a regulatory framework for broadband PLC. Our goal is to develop a methodology that delineates the major activities governing the PLC regulation process. Towards this end, we investigated radio spectrum issues, field measurements and sectorial discussions. In addition, we provide an overview of the international PLC regulation and highlight the main aspects of the Brazilian regulation.
