Abstract :
The 3-dimensional excursion characteristics of the glenohumeral joint were measured using a single-videocamera method. A 2-dimensional method of reporting glenohumeral mobility preserves all the data and subjects itself easily to mathematical manipulation and analyses. It was found that the human glenohumeral joint, characterized by a large humeral head, larger humeral articular surface and small glenoid fossa, all previously proposed to increase glenohumeral mobility, actually has lower mobility than that of the baboon, which lacks ail the above-mentioned anatomical features
