Abstract :
Unlike closed billiard systems, in dielectric microcavities localized resonances dominate due to their openness. The characteristics of openness of dielectric microcavities are imprinted even in individual localized resonance patterns. We discuss about how the openness affects resonance patterns in chaotic microcavities. We explain the pattern splitting and the unique emission patterns in some scarred resonances based on the openness of dielectric cavities. We also discuss the formation of quasiscarred resonances which cannot be understood without consideration of the openness.
