Abstract :
In this paper, the error rate performance of joint transmit and receive antenna selection (JTRAS) is investigated for independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) flat Nakagami-m fading channels with arbitrary real values of m. Simple and exact bit error rate (BER) expressions for integer and non-integer fading parameter m are derived by using the moment generating function (MGF) based analysis method. For integer fading parameter m, the results are given in closed-form as a finite sum of simple terms. For non-integer fading parameter m, the results are derived as a single infinite series of Gauss hypergeometric function. The asymptotic BER expressionsasymptotic BER expressions are also obtained to show that the JTRAS system achieves a full diversity order at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). The derived results are validated by simulations.
