We hereby retract the content of this paper. Reasonable effort should be made to remove all past references to this paper.

Based on the local water quality monitoring data from 2001 to 2008, the health risks of some water pollutants from the Yangtze tributary river was assessed. The results showed that: the concentrations of Ar-OH, cyanide, Hg, Pb, As, Cd and Cr(VI) were lower than those set by the national standard for surface water (GB3838-2002), however, the concentrations of NH3-N exceeded the maximum permissible limits in surface water. The health risks of non-carcinogens of each monitoring section lower than the standard value recommended by ICRP, but chemical carcinogens higher than the standard value recommended by ICRP, meanwhile, the health risks of chemical carcinogens were much higher than those of non-carcinogens.
