Abstract
Although the bandwidth requirement for IEEE802.11a WiFi is from 5.2 GHz to 5.8 GHz. For lower directivity antenna, it will be easier to obtain the 11% bandwidth (5.2 GHz~5.8 GHz) for IEEE802.11a. Unfortunately, for point to point outdoor WiFi communication, the requirement of antenna gain is larger than 10 dBi. This paper presents wideband antenna array for IEEE802.11a WiFi with 4 by 2 antenna array. The results of simulation by GEMS and prototype measurement are also compared. The measured minimum gain is about 13 dBi for outdoor desired band 5400 MHz to 5800 MHz (400 MHz) and 10 dBi for indoor desired band 5200 MHz to 5400 MHz (200 MHz) respectively.
