An investigation of the trophic state of Dongping Lake was carried out from May 2010 to Sept. 2010. Based on water transparency, total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll a (chl a) concentrations, the comprehensive trophic state index (TLI) was applied to assess the lake´s trophic status. The Shannon diversity index of phytoplankton was calculated. According to the majority of the investigated parameters and indices derived from phytoplankton, Dongping Lake is between mesotropher and light eutropher.
