Abstract :
This paper reviews regulatory status for high altitude platform station (HAPS) mainly focusing on frequency bands identified for user links and considered for the use by gateway links. One of the pending issues of frequency sharing of HAPS gateway links with other radiocommunication services is the consideration of interference impact on a space station due to HAPS gateway uplinks. Taking into account system characteristics and practical deployment scenarios of HAPS gateway links in the fixed service (FS) and fixed-satellite service (FSS) system, we evaluated interference from the HAPS gateway uplinks into the FSS uplink.
