  • Abstract
Three kinds of lignite were evaluated for their abilities to enhance solid phase denitrification of nitrate pollution in groundwater. The producing areas of the lignite are Inner Mongolian Pingzhuang, Heilongjiang San Jitun and Shandong Longkou respectively. The denitrification strain was cultured and tamed in lignite culture medium in order to increase the denitrification removal rate. The results indicated that complete denitrification was achieved in all reaction on the 4th day. The nitrite accumulation of SJT and PZ conical flasks was below Quality standard for ground water (Tape III, 0.02 mg/L). The three kinds of lignite are hopeful to use as carbon sources of solid phase denitrification in virtue of its characteristic.
