Abstract
One of the most important problems concerning the efficient management of large image databases is the creation of algorithms for content-based image retrieval. In this paper is presented a new method for fast image retrieval, using pyramid image decomposition in the spectrum domain. The image retrieval is performed on the basis of the evaluation of the multi-layer distance between the compared images. This approach permits the use of a recursive algorithm with relatively low computational complexity.
