Abstract :
The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is applied to the investigation of antenna concepts for hand-held portable telephones. Simulated near-field patterns as well as results for the wide-band input impedance are presented. The influence of the operator on the electromagnetic field is discussed by comparing results with and without a macroscopic model of the head and hand.<>
