Abstract
Reasoning from previous experience, or case-based reasoning, has been used in numerous domains. The basic metaphor for case-based reasoning is one of analogical reasoning. The author presents a semantic representation structure based on NIKL to capture the analogic reasoning metaphor behind case-based reasoning. This provides numerous benefits, including conceptual organization and explanation support. This approach was implemented in a military command and control tactical planning environment. Its advantages and disadvantages are presented
