Abstract :
The rail transit is one kind of urban track traffic systems. The paper focused on the new built rail transit system, Rail Transit Line 1, in Zhuhai, China. The following three kinds of benefits are analyzed. First, the economic benefits, which include the passenger time-saving benefit and the land value-added benefit, have been studied. Second, the social benefits, which have been analyzed according to the results of the reducing traffic accident benefit and the reducing journey fatigue benefit. Third, the environmental benefits, which have been analyzed by using the prediction of the energy saving benefits, the reducing air pollution benefits and the CRTN model to predict the noise effects on the surrounding environment. The paper made every effort to let the public people fully understand the indirect and external social interests which the rail transit system would bring up.
