  • Abstract
At the University of Texas at Austin, senior electrical engineering majors design a number of lab reports which enable them to practice writing skills needed by engineers in industry. Before designing these reports, students are given instruction in various aspects of writing. An evaluation guide not only pinpoints all possible errors in the design of the report but also serves as a checklist to be used while producing the report. The stages of designing the report are made analogous to the states in a laboratory project that moves from research and design to analysis and implementation. The author describes the makeup of this course and presents a flow chart and a time line for producing laboratory reports
