Biological Aerated Filter (BAF) with Biostyrene media was used in Qingdao Maidao Wastewater Treatment Plant for municipal wastewater treatment. This study was conducted to identify the optimized operation parameters of biological aerated filter (BAF) in a full-scale wastewater treatment plant, and provide scientific data for design and promotion of this process. The results showed that when COD and NH3-N in influent were between 60~260mg/L and 22~65mg/L, respectively, the optimum hydraulic loading was between 2.5~3.2m3/(mh), the optimum gas-liquid ratio was 5:1, the optimum COD loading and NH3-N loading in influent were between 2.2~3.3kg/(md) and 0.4~0.8kg/(md), respectively, and the optimum temperature was between 15~28°C.
