Title :
The design of a prototyping system in a distributed environment
Abstract :
Describes research directed toward the design of the distributed rapid prototyping system in Hitachi System Engineering Co. Ltd. Distributed prototyping systems use different techniques from those of a central database system. When many programmers are involved, coordinate management becomes the main factor in successfully developing a prototype. Computers could assist enforcing and maintaining standards necessary to coordinate system development. Enforcing standards is easily accomplished during entry by checking the validity of the entry according to the standard. Maintaining standards, however, presents more difficulty. The proposed system presents physical data-data dictionary separation, part and frame usage, and relative field positioning as some examples of techniques used to maintain standards
