Abstract
A constructive definition of the one-to-many Hough transform of a curve is given in the case of a continuous support image. It is based on the direct product of two delta functions applied to the set of characteristic points of the image and to the family of curves to be detected. General properties are derived and application is made to the case of straight line and circle. Explicit analytical expressions both of the ideal component and the background vote surface are presented for a rectangular retina. Examples are given to show the accuracy of the predicted performance.<>
