Heavy metals remained in secondary effluent have a harmful effect on human physiology and other biological systems when they exceed the tolerance levels. In this paper, removal of heavy metals (Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Rb, Ag, Cd, In, Ba, Pb, U) in secondary effluent of municipal wastewater plant using activated carbon adsorption technology was studied. The results showed that the average removals of heavy metals (Cr, Mn, Co, Cu, Zn, Rb, Ag, Cd, In, Ba, Pb) were among 50%~80% under activated carbon column height of 60cm and filtration velocity of 5m/h. It can be seen activated carbon adsorption has good removal of heavy metal pollutants in secondary effluent.
