In this work, a heterogeneous Fenton-like system based on activated carbon-Fe catalysts was studied, in which methylene blue was used as model organic contaminants. The effects of critical operation parameters (hydrogen peroxide concentration, catalyst dosage, reaction time and pH) were investigated. The results showed that 85% COD removal rate could be achieved in presence of hydrogen peroxide (4ml/L, 30%w/w), 1g/L of AC-Fe catalysts, pH 3~3.5. The degradation efficiency was decreased when the temperature was beyond 40°C. Good stability of the catalyst was proved by recycle experiments.
