Update of revision of ANSI C50 series of standards for large synchronous machinery and harmonization with the IEC 34 series

A working group of the IEEE PES Electrical Machinery Committee completed the task of comparing the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards for electrical machinery with the corresponding International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. For the synchronous generator standards, a summary of this work was presented at a panel session in Munich, Germany in July, 1997. Since then a working group has been formed in the Synchronous Machinery Sub-Committee of the IEEE PES Electrical Machinery Committee to revise the ANSI C50 series of standards. This paper summarizes that comparison and provide a status of the efforts to revise the C50 series of standards
