Abstract :
We first introduced a system of over 4000 thermoelectric modules (TEMs) to cool radioactive gases from +55 °C to -20 °C at the rate of 800 cubic meters per hour in the article Gas Cooling System with the Power 150 kW, the International Conference on Thermoelectrics, 1999. The gas cooling system (GCS) was mounted and launched at the Leningrad nuclear power plant facilities in September 2001. The present paper deals with the basic principles of the cooling system design and GCS performance data obtained over its operation period.
