Abstract
To classify unsuccessful single-phase autoreclosures, in this paper fault records of successful and unsuccessful single-phase autoreclosures in a German transmission network are investigated. In order to analyze the fault records, a new method is developed to determine the time of secondary arc extinction. An extended method to distinguish between arc faults and others is also presented. Both methods are based on analyzes of the waveform and the spectrum of the faulty line voltage after the opening of the faulted phase
