The sorption of chromium (VI), onto agricultural waste biomass carya shell (CS) over a wide range of reaction conditions was studied from aqueous solution. These conditions including the effect of solution pH, initial concentration, contact time on sorption efficiency. The chromium (VI) adsorption was favored with maximum adsorption at pH 1.0. The removal efficiency of chromium (VI) onto CS was decreased with increasing initial concentration. Biosorption equilibrium time was observed in 30min. The equilibrium adsorption data were fitted to Langmuir adsorption isotherm model and the model parameters were evaluated. The results showed that CS could be employed as a low-cost alternative adsorbent for the removal of chromium (VI) from aqueous solution.
