Abstract
The problem of electromagnetic scattering from inhomogeneous cylinders is formulated directly using the field concept, instead of the equivalent polarized currents, by using the method of weighted residuals. The resultant equation contains both volume and surface integrals but involves only one unknown field component. Using this equation, if the scatterer´s surface is divided into M segments, there are N+M unknowns and the resultant matrix is of the size of (N+M)*(N+M), where the scatterer has been divided into N cells for the numerical analysis.<>
