The carbon dioxide evolution test was used to determine the biodegradability of modified fatty amine flotation collectors in water. With sodium oleate as reference material, the biodegradability and biodegradable index (IB) of flotation collectors (namely, dodecyl dimethyl amine, N-dodecylpropane 1, 3-diamine, diester quaternary ammonium salt, dialkyl quaternary ammonium salt) were studied under aerobic conditions. The results showed that under the conditions of the gas flow of 161 h-1, the temperature of 25°C, the inoculum concentration of 100mgMLSS l-1, the test substances concentration of 20mgDOC l-1, the reaction time of 28d, the degradation rate of sodium oleate, laurylamine, dodecyl dimethyl amine, N-dodecylpropane-1, 3-diamine, diester quaternary ammonium salt and dialkyl quaternary ammonium salt were 88%, 74.24%, 92.13% 36.02% and 81.16% respectively, the degradation index were 201.32, 182.41, 201.23, 99.07, 163.89 and 27.61, respectively. And dodecyl dimethyl amine and diester quaternary ammonium salt are classified as readily biodegradable collectors, while N-dodecylpropane-1, 3-diamine and dialkyl quaternary ammonium salt inhibited the growth of microorganisms are classified as difficult biodegradable collectors according to OECD301B classification standards and evaluation criteria biodegradability index (IB).
