Abstract :
Maximizing network capacity with minimal cost is a large challenge for future network planning and grid control. Also, grid monitoring becomes increasingly important for daily operation management. A dynamic rating system can provide operators with vital information on grid control. At the same time a dynamic rating system can support network planning. Nuon is preparing a dynamic rating system for overhead lines, cables and power transformers. Nuon already started a pilot system for overhead lines and cables and is preparing a similar system for transformers. With this system, investments can be delayed, while the reliability of the power supply stays at high level through the optimization of maintenance planning
