Abstract
Australia´s large and inland receives some of the highest levels of solar insolation globally. Combined with the absence of distributed electricity in most of these areas, this has made Australia historically one of the largest photovoltaic users and manufacturers per capita. Research and development achievements are reviewed as are current programs and trends.
