Abstract
An automatic tool exchanger and automated screwdriver for use in industrial assembly robots are introduced in the paper. The tool exchanger picks a tool up by a spring and puts it down by air pressure. The screwdriver draws a screw up by a vacuum-pump, drives it in electrically and feeds it in pneumatically, and is equipped with sensors for detecting torque, turning speed, feed distance and suction force. The tool exchanger and the screwdriver have been tried out in an experimental robotic assembly system and achieved expected result.<>
