Abstract :
A new idea is presented to eliminate the effect of material properties on the output of eddy current sensor. According to this idea, the rational line of resistance and inductance under the same measure distance and different materials are linear; furthermore, the rational lines are parallel under different measure distances, by which the project plane is determined. If the impedances are projected along its rational line to the project plane, the same equivalent value(projected point) can be obtained. As a result, one measure distance is corresponding to one equivalent value, the issue is settled. In addition, the experiment study and finite element analysis has been undertaken into validating this idea. The results from the experiment and finite element analysis have good consistency. The conclusions arrived can provide some references to develop the new ECS which is irrelative to the measured materials.
