Abstract
Mutual coupling between antenna elements is of great importance in antenna array designs. Many studies for the mutual coupling effects between planar microstrip antennas have also been published. However, related studies for the mutual coupling between conformal microstrip antennas are very scant. The authors present a full-wave analysis of the mutual coupling between two probe-fed rectangular microstrip antennas on a cylindrical body. Numerical results of the mutual impedance between antennas and the mutual coupling coefficient S/sub 12/ are calculated using a moment method calculation. Typical results of the mutual impedance and mutual coupling for the microstrip antennas on a cylindrical body with different curvature radii are presented. previously measured and calculated data of mutual coupling for two planar rectangular microstrip antennas are also shown for comparison.<>
