  • Abstract
The effect of activated carbon dosage, chlorine dioxide dosage, pH value and reaction time on the chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation process treating neutral red dye wastewater were investigated. The results showed that the decolorization rate and organic matter removal rate of the chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation process were 96% and 98.4%, respectively. It was much higher than that of the system with only ClO2. It was also found that the optimum effect of chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation system can be obtained under the conditions of chlorine dioxide dosage 0.05mg/mL, activated carbon dosage of 7.5g, pH value of 7 ∼ 9, reaction time 50min and reaction temperature around 20□. Therefore, chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation process is an effective means of treating dyeing wastewater.
