The aim of this paper is to study the effect of bamboo vinegar, a natural and environmental-friendly liquid extracted from bamboo, on growth and flowering of potted herbaceous peony ´Dong Fang Hong´ in greenhouse. The 300,500, 800 and 1000 times diluted solutions of bamboo vinegar were sprayed on the leaves and stems of the peonies respectively, 1 time on the leaf expansion period and 3 times in the flower bud enlargement period. The results showed that 500 times to 1000 times diluted solution improved the flowering rate, plant height, leaf area and the chlorophyll content of the tested plants, and the 1000 times diluted solution gain the best effect, but the 300 times dilution inhibited the plants´ growth and flowering compared with the controls at the same fertilizer level. This indicates that the suitable concentration of bamboo vinegar can promote herbaceous peony´s growth and flowering.
