Abstract :
Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) can provide more information about objects in medical and industrial applications so that its value has been well recognized in the society. High cost is one of the main restricts of DECT systems for their spreading abroad. In this work, we study two types of DECT systems which have incomplete data from traditional reconstruction point of view. One is a DECT with a reduced number of detector bins in one of the two energy levels, i.e., with relatively lower cost. The other is a DECT which only scan a few views in one of the two energy levels. We propose a restoration method for such DECT systems. According to our validation and tests, it is possible to save more than 40% of data and still get a reasonable reconstruction with our restoration method. The method is easy to implement and can be extended to other data incomplete cases.
