Abstract :
For the past five years, technical specifications have been written for a new digital cellular system in Europe. In many aspects, the new digital cellular system provide capabilities which are required in a personal communications network. Planners of future personal communications networks will be studying the rollout of this system in Europe to gain practical information on the usefulness and efficiency of services offered in this system. Also, the similarity in requirements for PCN and GSM systems sets the first stage for the GSM network to evolve into a worldwide personal communications network when such a network is developed
