  • Abstract
OFDM has become one of the most important Beyond-3G transmission technologies. Mobile WiMAX is a typical representative of OFDM systems. The cross-layer optimization problem of inter-cell coordinated resource allocation for OFDM systems is addressed in this paper. We first analyze the problem by utility-based method, and formulate this optimization problem. Then the globally optimal and a sub-optimal inter-cell resource allocation strategy are proposed respectively in multi-cell scenario. Finally, Mobile WiMAX system is taken as an example for evaluation by system level simulation. The results show that the inter-cell resource allocation strategy can achieve better fairness among users in the entire network. Besides, inter-cell adaptive power allocation can enhance the throughput performance while considering the interference of neighbor cells. And the cell-edge throughput gain decreases with the increase of the number of users in one sector.
