Abstract :
The concept of universal personal telecommunication (UPT) is a very ambitious project and represents an innovative solution for the personal mobility of users among different networks in different countries. It aims to be provided independently from the supporting network, the terminal used and the requested services. On the other hand, the intelligent network (IN) has the capability to provide telecommunication services based on the user´s personal identification instead of terminal or line identification, by means of intelligent nodes with service control capabilities. For these reasons the requirements of independence can be easily achieved if the UPT service is provided using the IN functional architecture. The authors analyze the UPT mobility requirements and how the provision of personal mobility is foreseen in IN in order to verify the possibilities of mobility management for UPT user within IN
