  • Abstract
This paper presents an adaptive dead-time compensation strategy taking parasitic capacitance effects into account for variable speed drives. Dead-time compensation voltage is formulated by using a sigmoid function and adjusted on-line. A disturbance observer estimates the magnitude of sigmoid function, while an evaluation index concerning current distortion adjusts the gradient of sigmoid function. Experimental results demonstrates that the proposed dead-time compensation strategy successfully reduces the distortions of commanded voltage and phase current for permanent magnet synchronous motor drive at low speed and light load condition
