Abstract
The damped wave equation for seismic exploration is given for the evaluation of stratum acoustic impedance. The Chauchy problem is applied instead of the mixed problem in the process of identifying acoustic impedance. The author also gives a fast recursive identification algorithm layer by layer. In order to avoid the accumulation of errors during identification, the method of removing errors layer by layer is used. Some numerical simulation examples are listed which proved the validation of the method
