Abstract
The authors conducted research in Shanxi Province which is located on the typical loess plateau and found that the traditional earthen buildings have been widely used in residential areas of Shanxi Province for a long history. The authors also choose some earthen buildings with local characteristics for further investigation and put forward some suggestions for the energy conservation of future architecture design based on the analysis of the energy conservation of the loess architectures and its current situation. Meanwhile, the authors also proposed that the whole society should pay more attention to the reconstruction and reuse of these buildings for their sustainable development.
