Abstract
Even though Taiwan has been trying hard to make its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) view on commodity systems known to the EMC community around the world, the feedback from multiple sources are still disappointing. The Information Technology Industry TC-5 and ECMA TC-20 joint meeting held in Washington DC During the week of Oct. 20, 1997 was a vivid example. A Taiwan regulatory agent attended the meeting and tried to explain Taiwan´s EMC policy; and yet afterwards there were still many questions and uncertainties from all directions. The purpose of this paper is to explain further and clarify Taiwan´s EMC policy and its practice; its goal is to provide another avenue to help private industries through a smoother adjustment period to the Taiwan EMC regulations
