Abstract :
The sizing pressing process has been simulated using finite element method. Two typical anvil profiles in practice and three additional newly designed profiles are used in the simulation to systematically study the effect of anvil shape on the metal flow pattern. Base on the simulations of different anvils, the parametric studies of dog-bone deformation, end fish-tail profiles and width necking at the leading end of the slab are examined. According to the results, benefits of each anvil characteristics are discussed.
