  • Abstract
The influence of water on dielectric properties of a mica-glass fiber/epoxy composite has been studied with Thermally Stimulated Currents (TSC) in the temperature range [-130°C,+30°C]. Global spectra were recorded for hydrated and dehydrated states of the same sample. In the hydrated sample, two relaxation modes at 0°C and -35°C (β) were observed. The 0°C mode has been ascribed to the relaxation of free water molecules trapped into clusters. The β mode is found in the dehydrated sample global spectrum. In the two cases, a compensation phenomenon in the same temperature range is observed. Water acts like an antiplasticizer for this mode
