  • Abstract
    Purpose of this work is to propose a new classification procedure for the automatic assessment of snow equilibrium line. The key features of this approach are the definition of a knowledge-based classification methodology designed to integrate contextual information into a multisource classification scheme, together with a fuzzy knowledge representation framework. The strategy proposed here has been applied to identify the equilibrium line in an area of the Italian Alps involving eight glaciers of the South Pusteresi Alps
