Abstract
Recently developed three-state high-performance output structures in the 100 K ECL (emitter-coupled logic) product line are discussed. The objectives of three-state ECL are examined. The drawbacks of designing with standard ECL are considered, and it is shown how three-state ECL provides a solution. These outputs combine 25 ohm line drive capabilities when on with high impedance/low capacitance outputs when in the off state.<>
