Abstract :
An OS architecture that allows the cooperation between hard and soft real-time as well as non-real-time applications in a multiple processor environment is being investigated. To allow for efficient design and analysis, applications are built out of segments. Each segment is described by its resource requirements (processing time, communication time, etc.) and the precedence relationship to other segments. This approach is widely used for time behavior evaluation of hard real-time applications. A prototype implementation for a process management server for this application model is done for the micro-kernel based Alcatel-Elin operating system testbed (AEOS). It investigates the feasibility and suitability of this process model (for Alcatel Alsthom applications), with respect to currently available operating system technology
