Abstract :
Summary form only given. Inverse scattering transform (IST) techniques, originating about 1980, are applied to optical parametric amplification (OPA). These techniques were extended to nonzero phase mismatch and applied to sum frequency generation (SFG) and second harmonic generation (SHG). There is currently a growing body of experimental results that we believe can be described by this theory.
